In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team on MIA (2018) and Madonna joined forces with Maluma on Medellin, 2019 In 2020, several Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the advancing of their genre to the mainstream. Yet, a young generation like Rauw Alejandro was keen to continue the evolution. The musician incorporated electronic dance music as well as other styles into his music.
